The device has reduction gears (18), gear wheels, axial pins, shifting element (21), drive portion (22) and a cam (24) coupled with an engine shaft at a driving end and with an actuator (26) i.e. plunger, at an output side, and converting a rotational motion of the engine shaft into a linear movement of the actuator. The cam includes multiple step portions at an external periphery. Each step portion includes constant distance to an axis of the cam. The step portions are connected with variable axial distance by connection sections.
