The invention relates to a device (1) for converting energy from wave motions to another form of energy, with a fixed element and an element (12) movable relative to the fixed element, which elements are configured to perform a relative movement as a result of the wave motions and wherein the elements enclose a chamber, the volume of which varies with the movements of the elements, and an energy converter for converting the mechanical energy from relative movement between the elements to another form of energy, wherein the elements are each connected to a first rolling membrane (15) and a second rolling membrane (16), the chamber is enclosed by the fixed element, the movable element and both rolling membranes and wherein in at least one position of the movable element relative to the fixed element the surface areas of the two rolling membranes (15, 16) differ from each other transversely of the direction of movement.
