To provide methods and kits for measuring human T cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) proviral DNA.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method for measuring HTLV-1 proviral DNA in a sample taken from a subject, comprising determining HBZ gene in pX region in the HTLV-1 proviral DNA in the sample by using a PCR method. The invention also relates to a kit for determining the HTLV-1 proviral DNA in a sample taken from a subject by using a PCR method comprising a reagent for determining HBZ gene in pX region in the HTLV-1 proviral DNA in the sample.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
