To accurately estimate a sleep stage of a subject without imposing a burden on the subject.SOLUTION: A sleep stage estimation device detects body motion or pressure change of a subject during sleeping as living body data. Then, the living body data detected is subjected to frequency analysis and an approximate heartbeat frequency component is detected, and an approximate heartbeat low frequency component lower than the approximate heartbeat frequency component is detected as the component corresponding to the circadian rhythm component. Further, a sleep stage is determined from a value obtained by correcting the detected approximate heartbeat frequency component based on the variation of the approximate heartbeat low frequency component.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
