To provide a discharge device capable of properly discharging a curled sheet of paper without reducing the maximum loading amount.SOLUTION: A discharge device 15 includes a discharge member 25, a discharge tray 27, a pivoting member 31 which is pushed up to pivot by sheets stacked on the discharge tray 27, and detection means for detecting pivoting of the pivoting member 31. The pivoting member 31 has a first member 51 pivoting from a hanging posture of hanging down facing a discharge port 21 to a downstream side in a discharge direction, and a second member 53 changing from a first posture of hanging down from the first member 51 to a second posture of being housed in the first member 51. The detection means determines that the sheet amount has reached the maximum loading amount, at the time the pivoting member 31 is pushed up to pivot in a state in which the second member 53 changes to the second posture after the second member 53 is pushed up to change from the first posture to the second posture.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
