To provide a yarn winding machine capable of positively capturing a yarn end of a package.SOLUTION: A yarn winding machine includes a winder unit 10 comprising a cradle 23 that rotatably holds a package 30, a contact roller 29 that can contact a surface of the package 30, an air cylinder 60 that moves the package 30 between a position in contact with the contact roller 29 and a position spaced therefrom, a needle-thread suction port 35 that moves in a manner going toward and away from a surface of the package 30 and captures a yarn end of the package 30, an angle sensor 44 that detects a rotation angle of the cradle 23, and a unit control section 50 that controls the movement of the needle-thread suction port 35. The unit control section 50, upon a lift up, moves the needle-thread suction port 35 in a manner approaching up to a constant distance of a position from a surface of the package 30 on the basis of a rotation angle of the cradle 23 acquired at the angle sensor 44.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
