To provide a fire extinguishment or fire spread prevention device capable of switching a shape of liquid discharged according to a condition of the discharge, thereby effectively and efficiently extinguishing fire or preventing fire from spreading.SOLUTION: A fire spread prevention device 1 includes a nozzle 2 to discharge fire spread prevention chemical 7, a projection 3 having a deflector device 4 below the nozzle 2, a release valve 5 to supply the fire spread prevention chemical 7 sent from a chemical tank through a hose 6 to the nozzle 2, a siphon pipe, a nitrogen gas cylinder, a start-up valve, a pressure regulator, a gate valve, a degassing valve for inspection, and a storage box. A tip end 41a of a deflector 41 mounted at a tip end of the projection 3 and attached to be movable in a vertical direction of the deflector device 4 is positioned at a center in a cross section of a discharge shape of the fire spread prevention chemical 7 discharged from a discharge hole 21 of the nozzle 2, and is thereby discharged in a shape in which a lower half from the center in the cross section of the discharge shape of the fire spread prevention chemical 7 is spread.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
