To provide a production method of a glass member with an optical film formed by cutting a mother glass substrate with an optical film, which has an optical film formed on a phosphate glass substrate, into a predetermined product size, a production method of a glass member with an optical film, by which cracks or chips are suppressed from being generated in a cut portion when a mother glass substrate with an optical film is cut, and a yield of the glass member with an optical film can be improved, and a mother glass substrate with an optical film.SOLUTION: The production method includes: a film forming step S10 of forming an optical film 3 on a major surface of a mother glass substrate 2 while holders 130 are in contact with four corners on the mother glass substrate 2 to support the mother glass substrate 2, so as to form a mother glass substrate 1 with an optical film having a formation region P2 of the optical film 3 and a non-formation region P1, with the non-formation region P1 formed only in a part of an edge portion of the major surface; and a cutting step S20 of cutting the mother glass substrate 1 with an optical film into a desired product size to obtain a glass member 10 with an optical film.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
