PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method capable of manufacturing an air electrode material capable of high output high density and having large specific surface area, and also to provide an air electrode material having the large specific surface area.SOLUTION: In a method of manufacturing an air electrode material, raw material liquid of the air electrode material includes a constituent element of the air electrode material, a chelate agent and an anionic surfactant, refractory particles of the constituent element are generated, the raw material liquid is used whose negative electric charge on the particle surface is a pH not less than zero, the raw material liquid containing the refractory particles is dried to obtain precursor powder and then, the air electrode material is manufactured by calcination of the precursor powder.SELECTED DRAWING: None
