PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a top blown lance of a converter capable of suppressing reduction of iron yield in oxidation refining of the converter and an operation method of the converter.SOLUTION: The lance has a plurality of nozzles 51 with a laval shape, which ejects oxidizing gas, at a bottom edge, the plurality of nozzles 51 having an oxidizing gas flow rate per average ignition point area calculated based on the number and throat diameter dof the nozzles 51, R, of 0.78 Nm/(s m) or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
