A method for producing particles for pathological staining use, comprising polycondensing a compound represented by general formula (1) to produce the particles. In formula (1), R¹'s independently represent a hydrogen atom, CH₂OR² or CH₂OH, and R² represents an organic group, wherein at least one of R¹'s represents CH₂OH.
