The king pin with magnetic device is a king pin (1) coupled to it a magnetic device (2), which can be a magnet or an electromagnet. As this is a point of rotation between the towing vehicle and the towed vehicle, this arrangement, when rotated, will vary the position of the magnetic device (2), hence the magnetic field in the region will vary. This variation will be sensed by a magnetic field variation sensor (3), which may power an electronic vehicle control system.
