This invention describes a method of preparing stromal vascular fraction of adipose tissue cells by subjecting adipose tissue to ultrasound cavitation and subsequent centrifugation and washing it with a monosaccharide or disaccharide solution before and/or after the ultrasound cavitation. Washing with carbohydrates instead of the usual washing with sodium chloride solution, or not washing the material at all, increases cell viability. Furthermore, washing with carbohydrates reliably removes residuals and blood components, resulting in reduced risk of adverse effects of SVF cell preparations in patients.
