An object of the present invention is to provide a power generation system for a ship which can achieve space saving when a power generation system is introduced into a ship, and a power generation method for the power generation system for a ship. A power generation plant (1) includes a gas turbine (2) that is driven by combustion gas, a first generator (14) that is driven by the gas turbine (2) and generates power, a flue gas economizer (3) that generates steam by recovering heat from flue gas discharged from the gas turbine (2), a boiler (4) including a furnace (16) and a steam drum (17), a circulation flow path (29) that is connected so as to use the steam drum (18) as a steam separator for the flue gas economizer (3), a steam turbine (5) that is driven by steam from the steam drum (18), and a second generator (37) that is driven by the steam turbine (5) and generates power.
