The invention relates to a heat or cold storage (1), in which a tube heat exchanger (6) is embedded in a granular material (3). Its pore space is penetrated by a storage material (2), wherein the thermal conductivity of the granular material (3) exceeds that of the storage material (2) in the liquid state by a multiple. Cost-effective storage materials (2) with high specific heat capacities and / or enthalpies of fusion, in particular water and paraffin, unfortunately have poor thermal conductivity values. Therefore, only relatively low thermal outputs can be achieved with tube heat exchangers (6) embedded in these materials. The invention solves this problem by the tube heat exchanger (6) are introduced into a good heat-conducting granular material (3), wherein the pore space of the same to saturation with the memory material (2) is interspersed. The granular material (3) also mechanically fixes the tube heat exchangers (6), as a result of which costly design measures, which are necessary according to the prior art, especially with latent heat accumulators, become obsolete.
