A method for generating a user-perceived structure of an audible sound independence upon useraction within a VE is provided. Using a processor, a plurality ofpredetermined different digitalaudio tracks of the sound is provided. The digital audio tracks of the soundare determined suchthat depending on a combination of the digital audio tracks of the sound apredeterminedstructure of the sound is perceived by the user. Using the processor, spatiallocation and size ofaudio zones within the VE is determined such that at least two audio zones atleast partiallyoverlap. Using the processor, each of the audio zones is associated with oneof the digital audiotracks and within each audio zone a volume level distribution of therespective digital audio trackis determined. Using a display connected to the processor, the VE is displayedto a user. Using atleast one of a user input device and a user action sensor connected to theprocessor, userinformation indicative of an action of the user within the VE is received.Using the processor, aspatial location within the VE is determined in dependence upon the userinformation. Using theprocessor, the volume level of the digital audio track of each audio zonecoinciding with thespatial location is determined in dependence upon the spatial location and thevolume leveldistribution of the digital audio track within the respective audio zone.Using the processor, thedigital audio tracks of the audio zones coinciding with the spatial locationare combined independence upon the determined volume levels of the digital audio tracks and asound signalindicative thereof is provided. Using a loudspeaker connected to theprocessor, generating theaudible sound is generated in dependence upon the sound signal and provided tothe user.
