METHOD FOR ESTIMATING THE HEIGHT OF AN OBJECT IN A SURROUNDING REGION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE BY MEANS OF AN ULTRASONIC SENSOR WITH STATISTICAL EVALUATION OF A RECEPTION SIGNAL, CONTROL DEVICE AND DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
The invention relates to a method for estimating the height of an object (8) in a surrounding region (9) of a motor vehicle (1), in which method an ultrasonic sensor (4) is controlled in order to emit an ultrasonic signal, a reception signal (5) is determined on the basis of the ultrasonic signal reflected at the object (8), it is checked whether the reception signal (5) describes direct reflection of the ultrasonic signal at the object (8) and/or multiple reflection of the ultrasonic signal, in the case of which the ultrasonic signal is reflected at the ground (12) and at the object (8), and the height of the object (8) is estimated on the basis of the check, wherein at least one statistical characteristic of the reception signal (5) is determined, at least one feature describing the form of the reception signal (5) is determined on the basis of the at least one statistical characteristic, and it is checked whether the reception signal (5) describes the direct reflection and/or the multiple reflection on the basis of the at least one feature.
