A method for detecting an active power of a wind power generator set. The method comprises: acquiring the current rotational speed of a rotor of a wind turbine of a wind power generator set and an active power currently output; determining an effective wind speed of the wind power generator set based on the current rotational speed and the active power currently output; according to the effective wind speed and the maximum wind energy utilization coefficient of the wind power generator set at the current rotational speed, determining the maximum active power that can be captured by the wind power generator set at the current rotational speed; according to the maximum active power that can be captured and corresponding power loss, determining the maximum active power that can be output by the wind power generator set, and determining a release power with which the wind power generator set can continuously release rotational kinetic energy of the wind turbine for a predetermined time at the current rotational speed; and according to the maximum active power that can be output, the release power, and the active power currently output, determining an available active power of the wind power generator set. Further related to is a device for detecting an active power of a wind power generator set. The method and device can accurately detect an available active power of a wind power generator set.
