A method and system for identifying a harmful video. The method comprises: when it is determined that page elements of a webpage include a URL path of a video, acquiring a user ID recorded in the page content of the webpage, acquiring, according to the URL path of the video, a domain name included in the URL or an IP address pointed to by the URL, and outputting a first weight factor and a second weight factor based on queries related to the user ID, the IP address and the domain name; moreover, further acquiring an image file of a plurality of frame pictures in a video, extracting a direct-current coefficient in a compressed domain of the image file, so as to partially decompress the image file and then identify the image file, and outputting a third weight factor according to an image file identification resul and synthesizing the first weight factor, the second weight factor and the third weight factor, and identifying whether the video is a harmful video.
