A portable robot for cleaning a gun barrel, and a gun barrel cleaning method. The portable robot comprises a gun barrel cleaning device and a power source device. The gun barrel cleaning device is electrically connected to the power source device. The power source device supplies power to the gun barrel cleaning device. The gun barrel cleaning device is fixedly connected to the power source device. The gun barrel cleaning device, together with the power source device, can be manually installed in a gun barrel to be cleaned. The power source device can drive the gun barrel cleaning device to brush residues from an inner sidewall of the gun barrel and to bring the residues out of the gun barrel. The portable robot has a simple structure, is compact and light, and can be carried conveniently. Moreover, the portable robot can improve gun barrel cleaning efficiency, reduce labor intensity involved in cleaning a gun barrel, and increase cleaning quality.
