A lift table for raising and lowering a load. The lift table includes a tabletop connected with a base by a scissor lift mechanism. The lift mechanism includes two arms pivotally connected with each other. Each arm is connected with each of the base and the tabletop in two ways. First, a static fulcrum about which each of the arms pivot. Second, a dynamic fulcrum about which the each of the arms pivot as the dynamic fulcrum translates along a length of the lift table. A strut is pivotally connected with one of the arms at a static fulcrum and translateably engaged with the base at a dynamic fulcrum for contributing a mechanical advantage to raising or lowering the tabletop. The strut also provides an actuation point for a source of drive to engage the lift table and power the raising or lowering of the lift table.
