The present invention relates to a method of refolding recombinant core streptavidin from inclusion bodies, characterised by the steps of: suspending inclusion bodies of the recombinant core streptavidin in a chaotropic agent solution having a final concentration sufficient to suppress formation of recombinant core streptavidin aggregates; heating the suspension at a temperature of 75-95 °C for 2-15 min and incubating the suspension at a temperature of 4-20°C for a minimum of 2 h to facilitate refolding of the recombinant core streptavidin.
