The present invention provides methods for improving the efficiency of fermentation by arginine supplementation and genetically modified bacteria for use therein. More particularly, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising: (i) increasing the production of ATP-concentrated products by arginine supplementation; (Ii) increase the utilization of arginine by Cl-fixed bacteria; And (iii) providing a C1-immobilized bacterium having an optimized arginine deaminase pathway.
