The present invention relates to a novel esterase isolated from an Upo wetland deposit soil metagenomic library, and more specifically, to a novel esterase EstHT1 enzyme derived from Upo wetland deposit soil, a gene encoding the same, a recombinant vector containing the gene, a transformant to which the recombinant vector is transduced, and a method for producing the esterase. A novel esterase enzyme isolated from an Upo wetland deposit soil metagenomic library is an enzyme derived from a non-cultured microorganism which cannot be cultured by a conventional method. The novel EstHT1 esterase of the present invention is expressed in an E. coli, can be mass-produced in a water-soluble form, exhibits excellent activity at pH 5 to 11, and preferably at pH 8.5, maintains excellent esterase activity at 20 to 40°C, and has high resistance to various organic solvents, thereby being primarily used as a hydrolysis enzyme for lipolysis, and further, being used in various industries such as food processing for controlling flavor of food according to a high temperature and alkaline resistance characteristics of an enzyme, new medicine production through optic activity, biological synthesis catalyst of chemical products, and the like.
