A shearing apparatus for a metal belt to manufacture a storage battery comprises: a shearing apparatus to shear a metal belt advancing along a sliding route; a first slider situated at the upstream of the shearing apparatus; and a second slider situated at the downstream of the shearing apparatus. A control system temporarily operates the first slider and the second slider in a correspondent outward stroke and return stroke so as to change the length of the sliding route through a method of maintaining a uniform advancing velocity of the metal belt at the upstream and downstream of the shearing apparatus by temporarily stopping a connecting part of the metal belt in the shearing apparatus.
