The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition containing eucalyptol or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof as an active component. The pharmaceutical composition according to the present invention has an effect of promoting the differentiation of osteoblasts by increasing an expression ratio of Id1, Dlx5, Runx2, ALP, and OC, which are osteoblast differentiation marker genes, and increasing calcification of the osteoblasts, thereby being able to be widely used as a medicine or health food for preventing or treating osteoporosis. Furthermore, the pharmaceutical composition increases activity of osteoblasts, rather than targeting osteoclasts, thereby being able to fundamentally treat osteoporosis through the promotion of osteogenesis and being able to exhibit an effect of preventing secondary fracture.
