The present invention relates to a system and a method for predicting a traffic accident based on an artificial intelligence, which predict vehicles, people, and roads having a high accident risk by using image recognition and deep learning techniques, and transmit a prediction result to a control center to rapidly take a follow-up action so as to prevent an accident. The system of the present invention comprises: a vehicle system for recognizing an object from an image photographed by a camera, analyzing the recognized object using an artificial intelligence-based accident probability algorithm to predict an accident probability, and transmitting accident prediction data to a control center when the occurrence of an accident is predicted as a result of prediction; and a control center for analyzing the accident prediction data transmitted from the vehicle system, transmitting action information to a relevant institution in accordance with urgency, learning the accident probability using the accident prediction data, and transmitting a learning result to the vehicle system to update the artificial intelligence-based accident probability algorithm.
