The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating a menopausal symptom, containing an aristoteliachilensis (molina) stuntz extract or an enzymatic hydrolysate thereof as an active ingredient. Particularly, it is confirmed that the aristoteliachilensis (molina) stuntz extract and the enzymatic hydrolysate thereof have an estrogen activity in a cell, and act as an estrogen receptor agonist. Therefore, the aristoteliachilensis (molina) stuntz extract or an enzymatic hydrolysate thereof can be used for an alternative therapy of female hormones for preventing and treating a menopausal symptom derived from estrogen deficiency in a menopausal female.
