The present invention relates to a water pump, comprising: a housing; an impeller installed on one side of the housing to introduce and discharge cooling water by rotation; a controller installed on the other side of the housing; a rotary shaft whose one end unit is engaged with the center of the impeller and whose other end unit is placed on the controller side, rotating the impeller; a stator which includes: a core placed to surround an external side in a radial direction of a rotor, and a coil wound on an external side of the core, whose external surface is made from insulation materials, and which is accommodated in an accommodation space of the housing, into which cooling water is introduced, to be cooled down by the cooling water; and the rotor engaged with an outer circumferential surface of the rotary shaft to rotate by the stator. According to the present invention, the stator is allowed to directly come in contact with the cooling water introduced into the inside, thereby improving a cooling effect of the stator. Accordingly, according to the present invention, the water pump is able to keep a diameter of the coil small, reduce the whole size of the water pump, and reduce manufacturing costs.
