The present invention relates to a method for controlling an aftertreatment device of a diesel engine and an aftertreatment device controller using the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for controlling an aftertreatment device of a diesel engine comprises the following steps of: drawing a vehicle speed profile in accordance with an estimated driving route checked through a real-time route search of a navigation system; determining whether there is an aftertreatment purification possible section by analyzing and drawing an engine operation area profile appropriate for a vehicle speed checked from the vehicle speed profile; and determining a target vehicle speed and a gear stage by selecting an aftertreatment purification optimum section in accordance with a determination result.
