A heat recovery steam generator (HRSG; 54) including a bypass conduit (100) for reducing fatigue and/or stress experienced by components within the HRSG is disclosed. The HRSG (54) can include a steam generator module (76) generating steam, and a first superheater module (80) positioned in the down stream of the steam generator module (76). The first superheater module (80) can receive the steam generated by the steam generator module (76). The HRSG (54) can also include a second superheater module (84) positioned in the down stream of the first superheater module (80), and a bypass conduit (100) for receiving a portion of the steam generated by the steam generator module (76). The bypass conduit (100) can include an inlet (102) positioned in the down stream of the steam generator module (76), and an outlet (104) positioned in the down stream of the first superheater module (80). Additionally, the HRSG (54) can include a valve (106) in fluid communication with the bypass conduit (100) to provide steam to the outlet (104) of the bypass conduit (100).
