SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING VIRTUAL REALITY BASED ON FOOTPRINT IMAGE PATTERN ANALYSIS

The present invention relates to a virtual reality providing system for synchronizing the motion of an avatar in a virtual space and the motion of a user by recognizing a walking motion of the user. More specifically, in order to recognize the walking motion of the user, infrared rays are projected on a side surface of a users foot, which is placed on a foot plate capable of transmitting infrared rays and the reflected light is photographed by a camera provided at a lower part of the foot plate to acquire footprints. It is possible to determine the accurate walking direction without additional body mounting configuration through the movement and direction recognition of the taken footprints and it is possible to recognize the forward/backward movement as well as the leftward/rightward movement by dividing the foot plate area into sections. Therefore, it is possible to increase the usability compared to an existing treadmill device-based virtual reality providing system and to accurately provide various types of walking simulations through accurate walking motion recognition.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
