The carrier unit (110) includes a wet surface and a dry surface. The wet surface corresponds to the carrier unit (110) formed to be in contact with a flowing medium. The dry surface heats the flowing medium placed on the surface facing the wet surface. Temperature sensors (170a, 180a, 180b, 270, 370, 470), specifically, an NTC thermistor is effectively and thermally in contact with at least a part of the upper surface of the wet surface in the carrier unit (110). The control method (1) for a heating system device includes: a step (2) of receiving a start signal (S1) from a control device (30) to start the heating system device (100); a step of executing a test routine (3) about at least one of the temperature sensors (170a, 180a, 270a, 370a, 460, 470a, 480, 770); and a step of entering a safety state of the heating system device (100) when the test routine is unsuccessful.
