According to an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for assisting infants to watch a TV which receives power from a USB port of a TV to operate, comprises: an object detection unit for outputting an object detection signal when an object is detected within a preset viewing distance limit; a signal connection unit for providing an image signal and a voice signal provided from a set-top box to a connection terminal of the TV; and a signal control unit for controlling the signal connection unit to block, in the signal connection unit, the image signal output to the connection terminal of the TV based on the object detection signal.
