Methods and systems are provided for performing adaptive partitioning of a distributed cache partitioned by cache slices. Slices of the distributed cache may be allocated to different computer nodes of the cluster based on the routing table. After a pre-determined time interval, the cache slices can be reallocated to other computer nodes in the cluster based on access statistics and new routing tables corresponding to re-allocation of cache slices to the cluster''s computer nodes are provided do.
