The present invention relates to a method for preparing high purity titanium metal powder or titanium alloy powder that can be used in various fields. The method comprises the following steps of: partially reducing each of at least one metal oxide and titanium oxide; mixing the partially reduced metal oxide with the titanium oxide to prepare a first mixture; preparing a second mixture by mixing the first mixture and calcium hydride; and d) completely reducing the second mixture to prepare titanium metal or a titanium alloy.
