FIELD: mining.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mining and is intended to determine value of vertical stress in structural elements of development systems, for example pillars. Proposed method comprises drilling of well with extraction of core to be subjected to increasing mechanical loading directed along diameter, measurement of propagation velocities of elastic waves in massif along well and in core along its axis. Based on results of said comparison, vertical stresses in massif are determined. Core and analyzed section of massif are additionally heated in temperature range ΔT, plotting the elastic wave propagation speed in the core as a function of temperature and applied voltage V=ƒ(T, σ), as well as the dependence of the propagation speed of elastic waves in the array as a function of temperature, wherein the value of vertical stresses in the array is taken to be equal to the value in the core, where the greatest correlation of temperature dependences of the propagation velocity of elastic waves is observed in them.;EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of accuracy of determination of value of vertical stresses in rock mass.;1 cl, 3 dwg
