Calibrating a tester or tester using ESD protection circuits

An apparatus comprising: a circuit element requiring calibration; a calibration circuit for use in calibrating the circuit element; a clamp diode electrically connectable in a first path having the calibration circuit and being electrically connected connectable is in a second path that excludes the calibration circuit, the first path being for electrically connecting the calibration circuit and the circuit element, and the second path being for use in protecting the device from electrostatic discharge; and a switching circuit for switching the clamp diode between the first path and the second path.
