There is provided a safety control apparatus for a multi-cabin elevator, wherein the multi-cabin elevator includes a plurality of cabs configured to travel in a hoistway. In the safety control apparatus, a maintenance time manhole access is detected in a case where one of a plurality of hoistway doors is opened in the hoistway and a floor with an opened door is a lowermost floor in which no cabin is present within a maintenance time manhole access releasing area based on signals from: a cabin position and speed meter configured to measure a position and a speed of each of the plurality of cars; and a plurality of hoist door switches configured to independently detect the opening of the plurality of hoistway doors. Furthermore, a maintenance-time car roof access is recognized in a case where the open-door floor is other than the lowermost floor, with a car inside a maintenance-time car-roof access-releasing area. Furthermore, driving with the door open is recognized when there is no car on the floor where the door is open in other than the two cases, and automatic operation of each car is disabled or the car is stopped.
