The invention relates to a multi-string photovoltaic system having a string disconnection device, a method for disconnecting and reconnecting an individual or multiple individual photovoltaic string/s (10, 10') from or to a parallel circuit having further photovoltaic strings, in particular to a common inverter, as well as a string disconnection device for same. The multi-string photovoltaic system (1) comprises: two or more photovoltaic strings (10, 10'), each formed by photovoltaic modules (12, 12') connected in series; a central collection point (22a, 22b) at which the photovoltaic strings (10, 10') are connected together in parallel by means of string lines in order to create a current-carrying connection between the photovoltaic strings and the central collection point, wherein at least one of the photovoltaic strings (10, 10') has a string disconnection device (40) in the associated string line between the photovoltaic modules of this photovoltaic string and the central collection point, by means of which string disconnection device the current-carrying connection between the at least one photovoltaic string (10, 10') and the central collection point (22a, 22b) can be separated in a user-controlled manner in order to individually disconnect the at least one photovoltaic string from the parallel circuit in a targeted manner, wherein at least one of the photovoltaic strings remains in operation.
