DISPENSER FOR FORMIC ACID STEAM AND METHOD FOR MITE COMBATING IN BEEHIVES

The dispenser according to the invention relates to the distribution of formic acid vapor in bee hives for mite control. It has an evaporation surface which is delimited by a thin, gas-permeable, highly porous membrane made of hydrophobic material and comprises an evaporation container 1 and a storage container 2 which is sealed off from the outside in a gastight manner for the treatment dose of a liquid formic acid preparation. The dimensions of the evaporation container allow it to be placed in a narrow air space of the prey, for example a honeycomb alley 3, the evaporation surface 4 being in a honeycomb alley of the brood nest or an air flow path integrated into the evaporation container for the air moving through the brood nest or / and the space between two frames or is exposed between a frame and the prey roof. In an advantageous embodiment, the dispenser is equipped with a stackable packaging, the treatment dose of the formic acid preparation being located exclusively in the gas-tight sealed storage container. The method according to the invention comprises various possibilities for placing the evaporation container in the prey in a closely thermally conductive connection with the brood nest. A unique feature of the dispenser according to the invention is that, in conjunction with the method according to the invention, it enables a very high area-related evaporation rate that is not very dependent on the outside climate and can be used without spatial expansion of the prey.
