Before a sequence control component of a control application is migrated to a respectively selected server device, a coordination device checks whether a data stream for the transmission of application data has previously been set up for the respective control application. The coordination device enables the migration of the respective sequence control component if no data stream is set up. In the case of a previously established data stream, a check is carried out to determine whether sufficient resources for data transmission are available for paths to the selected server device in compliance with previously specified quality of service parameters. If insufficient resources are available, the migration of the respective flow control component is prevented. If there are sufficient resources, the coordination device initiates the establishment of a data stream to the selected server device as well as a dismantling of the previously established data stream and enables the migration of the respective sequence control component to the selected server device.
