To provide a timing device comprising a mechanical oscillator which synchronizes an intermediate frequency to a frequency of a reference electronic oscillator.SOLUTION: A timing device comprises: a mechanical oscillator which is formed of a mechanical resonant device (6) and a device maintaining oscillation; and an auxiliary oscillator for forming a reference time standard (22). The timing device comprises a synchronization device (20), and the synchronization device (20) is configured to make an intermediate frequency of the mechanical oscillator depend on a frequency of the auxiliary oscillator. The synchronization device comprises an electromagnetic brake device (26), the electromagnetic brake device (26) is formed of a coil and at least one permanent magnet, and in the electromagnetic brake device, an induction voltage is generated between terminals of the coil in each alternation oscillation of the mechanical resonant device. The synchronization device momentarily reduces an impedance between terminals of the coil in an individual time interval, and various two continuous time intervals exhibit a time distance which is substantially equal to that obtained by multiplying a half of a set point period of the mechanical oscillator to a positive integer in a start of each time distance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
