PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the discharge amount (discharge rate) of slag or the like per unit time in an arc type electric furnace, and to maintain a high discharge rate even when the thickness of the slag or the like is thin. SOLUTION: A levitation step of heating molten metal arranged inside an arc-type electric furnace by arc discharge to levitate slag or impurities on the liquid surface of the molten metal, and installation inside the electric furnace. By the gas blowing means, gas is blown from above the liquid surface of the molten metal onto the liquid surface of the molten metal or the slag or impurities existing on the liquid surface of the molten metal to the liquid surface of the molten metal. An induction step of guiding the existing slag or impurities to a spill port provided on the side surface of the electric furnace, and discharging the slag or impurities to the outside of the electric furnace through the slag port. A discharge method in an arc-type electric furnace, comprising a discharge step, in which the direction of the gas blown from the gas blowing means is directed toward the discharge port in the induction step.
