To provide a needle tip protector for a detention needle having a novel structure, capable of improving safety or the like furthermore than before.SOLUTION: A needle tip protector 10 for a detention needle including a cylindrical peripheral wall 58, for covering the needle tip of the detention needle by being mounted with extrapolation on a needle hub 22 of the detention needle 16, and by being moved to the needle tip 14 side, is provided with a locking part 74 locked by the needle hub on a moving position to the needle tip side of the detention needle, for preventing re-exposure of the needle tip by preventing retreat to the base end side of the detention needle, and is also provided, on a peripheral wall, with a part positioned separately to the outer peripheral side of the locking part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
