PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a software keyboard program, a character input device and a character input method that can be easily switched when change of characters, switching of a key array part, etc., are needed.SOLUTION: A software keyboard program comprises: a key array part 41 comprising keys for inputting at least one of Kana (characters of Japanese syllabary), alphabet characters and numbers; and an appearance area 45 where a prediction/conversion candidate display part 44 for displaying input candidates based upon character input can appear. Output control means controls output of characters to a character display part according to input to keys 50 of the key array part 41. When a slide is made passing the appearance area 45 with the appearance area 45 pressed by pressing means, character output to the character display part based upon the input character is changed to a different character, or to a different kind of the key array part 41 according to the slide operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
