To provide an excavation method and excavation stabilizing liquid that can suppress the water loss that occurs in the permeable ground that causes collapse in an excavation hole when excavating the ground in an embedded concrete pile embedding method or the like.SOLUTION: In an excavation method, the ground is excavated using an excavation stabilizing liquid containing (A) a rheology modifier, (B) water-swellable clay, hydraulic property powder, and water while preventing the collapse of an inner wall surface of an excavation hole.SELECTED DRAWING: None
