ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA composition suited for addition to groundexcavation stabilizing liquid is disclosed which is able toeffectively prevent the deterioration of the stabilizingliquid due to seawater or the mixing therein of cement, or toprevent the putrefaction of the liquid by bacteria. A groundexcavation method for using the composition is also di closed.The composition which is suited for addition to excavationstabilizing liquid comprises: (1) a mono-valency salt (A) ofunsaturated carboxylic acid (co)polymer of polymerizationdegree 5,000 or less; and (2) a compound (B) selected from agroup consisting of mono-valency aluminate, group II or IIImetal oxide, and salt of a higher order compound. Theexcavation stabilizing liquid composition comprises: saidcomposition suited for addition to excavation stabilizingliquid as described above, together with, inorganic clay (C),and as necessary, a compound (D) selected from a groupconsisting of water soluble cellulose derivatives, watersoluble starch derivatives, polysaccharides and theirderivatives. The ground excavation method is a method forexcavating the ground by excavator with staying or circulatingthe excavation stabilizing liquid composition in the excavatedarea.
