To provide a composite material comprising nano-order dispersion-type aqueous coating material and fibers which is inexpensive and easy to manufacture, has a high strength, and is usable for protection of objects, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the composite material.SOLUTION: The composite material comprising nano-order dispersion-type aqueous coating material is an aqueous emulsion coating material with no solvents contained therein. The composite material comprising nano-order dispersion-type aqueous coating material is obtained by impregnating fibers with a coating element which is prepared to have an emulsion diameter of 10 μm or less by stirring and dispersion while vacuum degassing is performed, the coating material impregnated into the fibers then being cured. A method of obtaining the composite material is also provided.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
