To provide an overvoltage suppression circuit capable of preventing overspecification of a switch by expanding a selection range of a non-linear element such as a varistor and a switch.SOLUTION: The overvoltage suppression circuit connected in parallel to a main switch of a main circuit for connecting a power supply and a load, includes: a nonlinear element and a first auxiliary switch connected in series to each other; and a voltage-dividing circuit unit, connected in parallel to the nonlinear element and the first auxiliary switch, including a first voltage-dividing resistor, a second voltage-dividing resistor, and a second auxiliary switch, connected in series with each other. A voltage dividing point between the first voltage-dividing resistor and the second voltage-dividing resistor is connected to a connection point between the first auxiliary switch and the nonlinear element.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
